8/30 Pisces Blue Moon, Destruction and Healing, Floods

lightning-801866_1920

In the midst of chaos sits opportunity; necessity is the mother of invention; and you never know unless you try.  These are three sentiments that the Super, Full, Blue Moon in Pisces carries with it.  Change is at hand.  There is no sidestepping this fact.  So now, it’s about what you do with it.  Will you face down your fears and move towards creative options?  It’s understandable if you panic like a deer in the headlights.  That’s just human.  Still, it’s what you do after you freeze (or flee) that matters most.

The next 90 days pack a lot of ‘high water’ moments.  For some people that’s literal.  California just had a very unusual brush with a hurricane.  Florida and the East Coast brace for another hurricane,  while China deals with massive flooding that destroyed food crops, homes and more.  Norway has transportation almost at a standstill because of their deluge.  I could go on because the list of downpours is long.  But the goal is not to frighten you.  It’s to share some solid ground to stand upon together with what’s coming.

When we braced for the potential Hurricane here in Southern California, something wonderful happened.  My small complex had  unplanned gatherings as neighbors shared what they had for resources.  One had a battery supply. Everyone had food.  Two had battery operated radios and flashlights.  Another had candles while a third had solar powered device chargers.  We worked together to get the courtyard battened down and shielded in case of high winds.  We also joined in shared wishes for the two majestic old trees out front to stay standing and spare our building.  There were marked differences in age, nationality, background and beliefs in the group.  But none of that mattered much.  In fact, it didn’t even come up.

We were all humans, facing a common threat.  Like the wealthy man in Texas said on the news when he and his immigrant townsman fought the same flood, ‘the water didn’t care that I was wealthy’.   This Full Moon in Pisces reminds us that water is the great dissolver.  The hardest stone becomes grains of sand in time under liquid’s flow.  So do the obstacles that separate us from one another.   But the twist that comes with this Full Blue Moon is the need for individualization.  One big solution won’t ever address the issues.  This is because the ‘floods’ that face each group are specific to their space/region/territory.

There is simply no way for one governmental body to get it right.  Hint, stop pointing fingers at the government.  It is failing because it has outlived the structure that got it this big.  From here, wether it’s church, government, science, farming (I could go on) we have to individuate.  Innovation will come out of each group finding what works best for their specific issues.  I doubt it will be a clear or easy process.  People have become addicted to vertical authority.  One person at the top calling the shots is the norm.  But that’s not going to help here.  The front lines have the best seat to inform the rest about what’s happening.  Then the shared wisdom of the group can start pooling resources and trying solutions.  It’s a learning curve.

So this Full Moon is about the ability to be valuable, just as you are.  It can dissolve obstacles that block your clear view of what you are to the world.  It’s less about your accomplishments than it is about the talents within you to do great things.  Trust you have the power to make an impact with your contribution.  An added plus is the ability to talk things through, try things out and learn from mistakes.  It’s a quality that is priceless, an incredibly useful power unto itself.  Or, you can squabble over who’s to blame and who’s in charge while the water rises.  You decide.  The Cards and Stars can help…

Thank you,

8/30 Pisces Full Moon the tower

What an informative pull we have this Blue Moon. The Tower signifies destruction that clears a path for new growth. Like the rainbow after a storm, it’s the promise that things do get better. In fact, they get beautiful. Keep the image of a rainbow in mind when fear tries to tell you otherwise. This card is what made me reach for the quote, ‘in the midst of chaos sits opportunity’. The Tower wipes out walls built out of ego and misuse of authority. Sadly, some structures are collateral damage. It goes with the ‘interesting times’ we live in now. But this is where ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ is a handy reminder. When life forces you out of the familiar, even if it feels unjust, it could be your dare to be great moment.

I know a very happy story of a long standing, loving and happy home built on the back of the massive Los Angeles earthquake of January 1994. A man phoned a former girlfriend to check on her well being and the rest, as they say, is history. That compassionate moment was the anchor to a proposal and a life well lived, filled with love. No matter what happens, it’s what you do with that raw material that matters. You may well contract in fear and distrust of life itself. But keep going. Let that be starting point, not the stopping point. Or you may explode and blame this agency or that builder, the fossil fuel companies or greedy politicians. I can relate. But keep going. What will you do with your fear and anger? What can you create with it that expands your life into new space?

The lightning strike in the Tower card may be mentally located. Your belief in something crumbles. Or it could be emotionally housed. The relationship you’ve counted on can shift with the tide. By all means, comfort yourself. Loss is worth honoring. What you value can feel hard to relinquish. And remind yourself as you grieve and release, that you still possess everything inside of you that created what you value so much. Which means it can help you do the next version of too. All that power, resourcefulness and ability is still yours. It didn’t leave with the end of one creation’s life span. Remember this Truth. That way you don’t lose your days endlessly looking in the rear view mirror.

There’s so much life in front of you, and it benefits from all of you that you can bring to it. Let the rising tides bring you that assurance, again and again.

8/31 the star

When the Star card follows a difficult card, it is the promise of better days ahead. No matter the difficulties, you can rise to meet the challenge successfully. So then the question is will you? The aspects today give us a chance to walk through our worst case predictions and bookend them with an equally optimistic outlook. The best is just as possible as the worst. We can just find preparing for disaster feels more comforting than expecting the best. It’s an act of courage to believe and then act on that belief. Because the Star card always rewards effort. Not perfection, but rather the act of investing in action. Which then means you want to learn how to refine what actions best serve you.

By all means, have preparations for the worst case scenarios. This is practical and useful. I invite you to spend at least as much time preparing for the best case. Expansion requires foresight and provision. Do you have at least as many growth provisions as you do disaster provisions? The Pisces Moon makes all kinds of contacts today to dial up both fear and optimism. Why not watch where yours take you. Since your mind loves to make plans, why not give it direction and guidance on how to best navigate between the two poles of best and worst imagined outcomes. The very act of investing in this way already puts you ahead of the curve for wishes come true and the ability to enjoy it when it does!

9/1 queen of swords

With the Moon opposing Mars today, caution is the word of the day. This Queen of Swords is a great air traffic controller. Slow down, take in the whole field of vision. Get all the information in hand before you act. Because over reactions, harsh words and sharp edges will not improve your circumstances. It may feel good in the moment but this is definitely a swatting flies with cannonballs kind of day. Sure, you take out what annoys you. But boy do you make a lot of work for yourself cleaning up all the collateral damage.

Frustration, irritation, aggravation may be unavoidable. How you deal with it can make or break your day. Easy does it. By all means, give yourself an outlet if you need to vent. Choose well and it can even be productive. I like to use my yoga noodle to beat the dust out of my couch. What you feel matters, how you shape it matters just as much and maybe even a little more. So why not craft out a day that has space for all that energy in a way that benefits you instead of sets you back, right? You define the moments so they don’t ultimately define you.

9/2 King of wands

This King is outstanding for making seemingly impossible things fit together in time. The key to this is patience. That is something the Aries Moon, in easy aspect to Venus in Leo, can find annoying but understandable. Too much impatience can rob us of a potent present moment. With both Chiron and Ceres in uneasy aspects to the Moon, it’s easy to fall back on disgruntlement instead of empowerment. You get to choose. While the grumpiness can be a good stop on the path, you may not want to hang out here long. Feed yourself kind words and acknowledge what’s felt. Then give yourself a good cheerlead for better things ahead. Patience isn’t a fun virtue, but it’s a powerful one. Let a little of it today help get you more of what your Moon/Venus longs for, as if by magic.

9/3 strength

We start the day with a pushing match between Moon and Pluto just before dawn. You may find it works its way into your dreams. Themes of something just beginning that displaces the familiar could show up. As the Moon moves into Taurus and sextiles Saturn, you pick up support to make whatever fresh starts are in the works really gain stability. Like a pair of shoes, the unfamiliar starts to feel more like home.

This card reminds us to persuade rather than compel, to persist instead of overcome. Doing it this way requires less energy and allows space for momentum to build as changes become a new normal. Venus moves direct today, adding attraction to your efforts. You’ve got this and you are stronger than you realize. Force always underestimates its strength and pushes. Real power can be like the water on a rock. It simply persists until obstacles are powder beneath your feet.

9/4 eight of pentacles

Ah, the craftsmanship card. And what a mix of energies served to us today. We have Mercury the Messenger in easy aspect to Jupiter, making our minds fly to higher heights. The Sun and Moon are also trine so our internal and external worlds work in harmony to craft our day more to our liking. We get a little hip check on expansion when the Moon squares a slowly direct Venus. Where does fear step in front of faith for the current path? Jupiter is about to retrace its steps through the first half of Taurus for another four months. What do you believe you can do and why do you believe it now? Time to shed limitations that belong to the past you, not the current one.

The Moon is in sweet harmony with Mercury and meets up with Jupiter to help your excavation on where you are more than you settle for seeing about yourself. Then as the day winds down you get some electrifying insights, thanks to a push from Uranus to free your limited views to return to the time when they were true. It’s a learning curve. This eight says you get back the energy that you put out there. When you invest in yourself, the Universe will meet you there. Your life is a work of art, sculpt away anything that isn’t you now, just as the statue emerges from a stone block. Bit by bit, those old limited views fall away, even if they did feel set in stone.

9/5 temperance

There is a contest of wills today, as the familiar patterns want to maintain their grip on the steering wheel. Temperance reminds us that patient, persistent movement wins the day. It can zig zag, it can back up. But course correct and adjust accordingly. No need for a big story. It’s human to rely on the tried and true way of doing things. Not all of the unfamiliar feels comfortable yet. And we do so love to accomplish things to make us feel we are in charge in uncertain times.

You are the ultimate authority in your world. So how do you want to use that power? Forcing yourself? Muscling your way through things? One of the meanings for Temperance is ‘don’t push, don’t shove’. Let things open in their own time. Like a rose bud, you destroy it if you force the petals to unfold on your timeline. See where you do that to yourself? Got it? Great, now try to feel your way forward with less pressure, more finesse. Be where your feet are. Stand in this moment and do what’s in front of you well. It’s hard to go wrong with that guideline. Psst. Pay attention to your dreams, too. There’s information there…

9/6 seven of pentacles

We are back to the garden visual today. There is tending to do. Pull the weeds of disbelief and doubt your doubts while you do. Reassure yourself or check in on what you love as you anxiously await a progress report. Everything thrives in its own time. You do best to make sure the conditions are good. Like water in the garden, let what you love drink in being seen and cherished. Cut back the dead wood of past performance. It had its day in the sun and the memory still serves. But let it be compost to feed what you do with it now. You aren’t limited by what’s been before, but you are nourished by what it showed you about yourself.

Where you find fertile soil, plant new dreams with good neighbors. Some dreams work better near each other than others. Take care with what you are doing and trust that nature always corrects. It will work with you to give you feedback on what needs more attention to shine on it. Or it will droop when you don’t cherish it with love. When you hone these skills, you are well positioned to produce space to luxuriate in, no matter what happens around you. Your life can be just that enticing, with a little effort.

9/7 the chariot

The Lunar travels today take us through the space of being part of a collective, and successfully part with the Chariot at hand. However, you can only be as good in connection as you are comfortable being an individual. The world needs safe spaces where we can learn how to lean on each other without losing ourselves. Those spaces have to be solid enough to embrace or at least tolerate the differences that strengthen the fabric of those bonds. The Chariot highlights we have whatever we require to do it successfully, IF we don’t rush things. There’s that pesky word patience again, sigh.

Where can you risk being vulnerable with your chosen tribe and know that it can be heard? Or, how you can listen without judgement or control when someone voices their ask? Being patient may mean you need to invest in modeling safe vulnerability so others can see what it looks and feels like. Once you feel it, the genie can be hard to put back in the bottle. It’s a total game changer. Now is a good time to imagine more of what that safety could look like. Then set your intention for consistency in offering your part of that. It’s contagious with the right people. If they can’t or won’t embrace it over time. That may be helpful to know as far as who are your tribe. Don’t rush to judgement. Pace yourself and notice what’s there. This card says you can create that community in time.

9/8 eight of wands

As the second eight in this Moon cycle, it highlights a development not expected. The aspects today remind us to slow down or accidents may happen. With this eight of wands, you also want to stand still long enough to receive the applause available for you. Who wants to rush by recognition for our hard work, right? When you let the praise help fuel the light inside of you, it makes it easier to step outside the familiar and do something unexpected.

It may take you by surprise. You find your response to what’s in front of you pops the lock on a new wealth of options. Again, a good incentive to slow down. Mars is invisible until next May in the night sky. Which means your actions now may not seem that big. But once you see the bigger picture, you will understand how a small change, makes a big impact. Go slowly and expect the unexpected.

9/9 three of swords

Hmmm, I have the luxury of seeing the next few days in a big picture view. So let me give you a spoiler alert. Prepare for opportunities disguised as losses. Except this time what you lose could be the trauma of the past. Don’t mistake me. Your history is still your history. The difference is you’re in a more solid place with your lived experience. This Moon cycle began with the Moon just separating from Saturn in Pisces. Saturn is the planet with rings around it and helps us learn limits and boundaries. What a great combination for limiting our suffering over the past!

The Moon is in a challenging aspect to Chiron today, so those long emotional toes will get tread on somewhere. Which is why your ability to handle your own suffering is so valuable. The easiest way to lose quality connection is to have two wounded people each fighting to be heard. Except when you are in fight, flight or freeze mode your guard is up. What you want from another can be hard to receive, no matter how well they offer it.

The best way to proceed is to be sure you have your own self soothing steps and then use them. Breathing, tapping, taking a walk. Once you’re centered you have a better ability to hear what is offered. You may even have the bandwidth to negotiate a better path forward. But no matter what, you are out of the fight, flight, freeze mode. You can edge towards your yes and no from a more authentic space and less of a trauma defined approach. Imagine what’s possible if we all practice that for a while. Picture countries being able to negotiate instead of war. Who knows how far your little adjustments can travel out into the world. I told you, there are big opportunities when we are willing to lose a little…

9/10 the devil

The theme we began yesterday carries over into today. Our compulsive parts make an appearance. They wish to be heard and even obeyed. Except you can’t ever get enough of something that almost works. Soothing ourselves with a compulsive reaction instead of learning what we can handle now is a closed loop. This kind of circling keeps resources out and our emotional self isolated. Sure it’s protected in there, but lonely and cut off, too. For some people it’s a mild compulsion. For others it’s a bigger deal. The good news is there is an ease aspect right now to help you face yourself and ask for more than you’ve been able to enjoy until now.

Take it slowly, please. One solid step away from immediate gratification and towards more delayed gratification is a good step. With Mercury in tense dialogue with Eris, it’s tempting to insist the current state of things make up for past injustices. That’s a false equivalency. Not to mention unfair to those people and resources around you. By all means acknowledge your struggles. Then take a good, fair look at what is in front of you. There may be more abundance available than your trauma loop perceives at first glance. So take a couple of long looks, locate what the present need is and ask for it. Be open to how the answer may show up. The Devil is in the details. Which means don’t get bogged down in controlling how your ask gets answered. Stay curious instead.

9/11 high priestess

The High Priestess stands for mastery over receiving insight and information. Something that can feel unsafe to our traumatized self. Oh, but wait, that part of us is no longer the driver on our life path. What might you discover when you no longer feel the uncomfortable need to protect yourself from life, but can engage with it more expansively? It means you trust your inner alarm system to know when things are off. From there you can intuitively navigate what you want to do with any danger.

In fact, I invite you to make a list, even if it is a mental one. Put down the times you avoided something successfully due to your intuition. Why not add the times you were in the right place at the right time for something good to happen, too. Catalogue how much more guidance you have than your mind likes to recall. Our mind prefers data to hunches. Of course, because data relies on lived experience. But your intuition takes you out into the unknown. Which is why mind gets busy distracting you with threatening facts.

So this is why your catalogue can be so helpful. We all have intuition. In fact, your dreams are loaded with insights. Your intuition is a rich addition to the whole YOU. See if a dream diary helps you recall them better. The more you pay attention to yours, the more it can offer you. Have some fun with it and be willing to be surprised. The Universe has a sense of humor after all…

9/12 three of cups

There is a bit of an urge to break free today as the Leo Moon squares Uranus. Could it be that the freedom you explored the last couple days has offered up fresh options that appeal to you? This three is the second three in the Moon cycle, which highlights choice. Where the brain prefers a simple contrast of this or that, now we get into a more abundant space that requires us to compare and decide what really suits us. Let it be fun! Breathe into any anxiety about making a wrong choice. Instead focus on what you feel when you imagine each one. Does your body expand or contract. Or is it just ho hum about it? Hint – You can’t get it wrong. You can either enjoy yourself or not. Which do you choose?

9/13 three of wands

Wow, the third three appears. We move from choice to innovation with the addition of this three. Funny how once you take the brakes off and move into the adventure of life, it expands exponentially. When you realize just how rich the resources are, you can be like one of those top chef shows and create masterpieces with the oddest ingredients. You may surprise yourself with what you can do, when you give yourself a chance.

One of the images for this card is a ship that traveled a long way and now it’s in the harbor. It’s not at the dock, but you can see your ship is about to come in – and you are at the dock ready for it. That’s how I felt facing the hurricane warning. Yes there was a real threat. But we had each other’s backs and it was community. That’s what we need now. Each effort you make to be the most you (and hopefully the best you) adds a unique quality to the group. It’s what is possible when we aren’t antagonized or on guard from life. And that, is truly an abundant life. Here’s to you enjoying yours… with everything in it ultimately rich texture for your creation magic.
