Full Moon: For Your Own Good

Love

The Sagittarius Full Moon carries a softer, sweeter tone than the last couple of Lunar cycles. Venus and Jupiter bond in Taurus, engaging in easy conversation with Neptune in Pisces, contributing to this ambiance. Yet, there’s always a certain amount of tension during any Full Moon. It provides us with a monthly opportunity to make sense of opposites. This month, it’s about balancing the thoughts and ideas of Gemini against the big picture of how they mesh into a belief system.

In the tapestry of life, whether we’re considering nations, faiths, traditions, or local circles, the beauty lies in their diverse threads. Just like the raw material of thoughts in Gemini, they weave together under the broad perspective of Sagittarius, shaping the fabric of our existence. Your own life story is intricately woven from these diverse experiences. This month, the stars extend an invitation, encouraging us to shine a spotlight on what brings us joy, offering insights into how these pieces fit together. It’s a gentle reminder of the potential for internal harmony, a harmony that has the power to ripple out, enriching every aspect of our lives.

The best starting point is to locate more of those original wants and needs inside you. Like seeds, you may find they’ve flowered when you weren’t looking. This is proof of natural internal harmony with what you want. This harmony is an organizing principle meant to benefit you. With Neptune cozying up to Venus and Jupiter, it encourages each of us to dream bigger and better. Mars continues to move away from the South Node, increasing vision for those blind spots where your actions (or lack of them) cause you to suffer unnecessarily. It’s headed for Chiron, which means you get to learn or relearn how to act for your own good.

This is a time to act more deliberately on our own behalf while keeping in mind how it impacts others. Some of your desires may disrupt the status quo, and they may be meant to do that. But can you do it thoughtfully? The very act of caring about your disruption offers consideration instead of ramming through insisting you do what you have to do. Mars in Aries gives us the courage to speak up for ourselves. The looming conjunction with Chiron reminds us to harness the courage of the placement more than the hubris and impatience. Self matters. Selfishness harms. Wisdom is discovering the way forward for you that takes good care of yourself without sacrificing others. You may need to be creative, but it’s a worthy effort, for everyone’s good.

The most exciting aspect is the newfound ability to cultivate environments where you truly feel at home. It goes beyond merely sharing common ideas. Lately, we’ve seen weak connections formed over shared dislikes or annoyances, offering little substance to build upon. In fact, these superficial bonds often hinder the creation of something enduring. Dislike and disgust breed division, while love and desire foster unity. This is why this lunar cycle feels particularly inviting. It’s an opportunity to shape the world we want to inhabit, driven by shared values of respect, consideration, harmony, and creativity. Now, isn’t that the kind of community you’d want to be a part of?  And it all comes as you decide what you do that is ‘for your own good’.   The Cards and Stars will help.

5/23 Full Moon – Ace of Cups:  For Your Own Good

What does “for your own good” mean to you? I can still hear my parents saying that to me when I was a child. It seems like everyone—governments, religions, even neighbors—wants to dictate what they believe is best for us. In an age where we have access to more information than ever before, who holds the authority? Isn’t it intriguing how so many people feel compelled to impose their idea of what’s good on others? This Moon cycle suggests that we focus on curating experiences, people, places, and things that we perceive as beneficial, based on our current understanding.

This raises another question: How well do we truly know what’s good for us? I know someone who has a history of trauma and, as a result, tends to overreact. In the past six weeks, they made two major life decisions and walked away because they believed it was for their own good. The discomfort of navigating through uncertainty overwhelmed them. While friends wished for an easier journey, we can’t judge whether their actions were right or wrong. Their decisions strained our relationships, but perhaps they need to learn things the hard way. Or maybe, for them, anything else was the tougher path. As for me, I choose how I learn from it and respect individuality. Oddly, his seemingly hard path is proving rich educational material for me!

The concept of “for our own good” is complex and multifaceted. We have the freedom to explore what it means for ourselves. However, we must tread carefully when attempting to dictate what’s best for others. If we impose our views on them, are we equally open to them choosing what’s “good for us”? For me, it boils down to the golden rule: treat others as you would like to be treated. Can we extend the same generosity to others’ struggles as we would want them to extend to ours? But let’s not abandon our own perspectives in the process. There’s immense creativity in finding this balance, and countless individual paths to explore. Care to join me on this journey?

5/24      Ten of Swords: Failure Communicates

We all harbor an inner spoiler—a part of us that fixates on worst-case scenarios in any situation. The presence of the Ten of Swords, coupled with the Moon square to Saturn, offers us a chance to confront this aspect head-on. Look your destructive tendencies in the eye; acknowledge that they have a role to play. With the Moon trine both Mars and Chiron, we’re presented with an opportunity to nurture this aspect, encouraging it to mature.

It is crucial to move beyond the impulse to demolish sandcastles simply because we can. Some argue that without the knowledge that something can be destroyed, it’s challenging to feel free enough to create. Consider this,  once they introduce corrupt data into Artificial Intelligence, they can’t go in and remove it.  The corruption becomes part of the system forever.  Knowing that you have the power to end something if needed allows for experimentation and exploration of possibilities. This perspective fosters the courage to initiate projects, knowing they can be terminated if necessary, although what is introduced never truly disappears.

Therefore, the most constructive contribution to the collective world is one made with integrity. This integrity stems from the awareness that you’re offering your best in that moment—it’s not about perfection but about wholehearted effort. This may require some time to cultivate, often where the inner spoiler manifests. Recognize its presence; understanding it disarms its influence. Then, you can learn to harness its energy to work for you rather than against you. After all, it’s your monster to tame.

5/25      King of Swords: Heading towards love

This mentally sharp King is the wise counselor who dispenses almost clinically accurate perspective.  Which comes in handy as Venus trines Pluto and the Moon squares Neptune.  We need clarity on where we operate with a wishbone when a backbone is required, too.  We are still in discovery about our updated deeper wants and needs.  As we move beyond our habits and safe structured lives, abundance demands attention.  Believe it or not, we are more comfortable with fewer choices.  It takes active choice to consider a bigger picture.  That is not to say go overload your brain and try to sift through the selections all at once.

This is the evolution in how you decide anything.  First you have to open up the field of possibilities.  Then sort through them and do your own version of triage.  There are some options that you are unlikely to feel drawn to in the first set.  Just acknowledge them there in the mix.  Then group the ones you know and love on the other end.  Finally there are those unexplored middle ones that aren’t so far out as to trip alarm bells.  Which ones of those pique your curiosity?  This is just one way.  By all means, play with your own sorting system.  The goal here is to ensure you open up to abundance in a way that feels engaging.  Find one that works for you and tweak it as you go.

5/26      The Empress: More Than Before

Abundance is here—I hinted at it yesterday. The Empress always brings ‘more’ in a big way, and you’ve likely felt it too. However, you may be more familiar with the anxiety that accompanies it. Remember, our brainstem prefers familiar patterns, and the unknown triggers alarms. Recognize that some of the tension you feel may actually be excitement, albeit without breath. So, remember to breathe. It might sound funny, but you’d be amazed at how many of us spend most of the day breathing only into the top half of our lungs—a stress response. Pay attention to this so you can help your body ease into this new abundance of life.

I’m a big fan of tapping because it calms the amygdala down. You can find hundreds of free videos online and discover one or more that work for you. Breathing, tapping, walking—all of these help your nervous system expand safely into unexplored territory. The goal is for you to pay attention to what’s happening between your mind and body and consistently support yourself there. The Moon and Mercury join forces to offer us inspired guidance on adding new ways to do just that, which we’ll need by this evening. As Luna squares off with Mars and Chiron, it’s tempting to cling to safe spaces, no matter how cramped. But why not see it as an opportunity to practice good self-care with your evolving system?

5/27      The Emperor: All Hands On Deck

It’s a roller coaster through the ‘more’ that kicked off yesterday. Well, this whole eclipse season could be included if accuracy matters. The Moon traverses a dizzying array of aspects today, demanding focused attention from mind, body, heart, and Spirit. It’s a choice point—a moment when something occurs or happens to set you on a whole new course. It may seem almost insignificant in size, but years from now, you’ll view it as a turning point. While the Emperor embodies top-down, logical energy, you don’t want to overthink this or attempt to mentally muscle your way through. It won’t be helpful.

If you catch yourself doing that, practice flexibility and take a do-over. Either try something new or approach an old task in a fresh way. It’s that simple yet incredibly potent. Use your upgraded guidance system. Check in on your body—how is it handling the stress? Continuously fine-tune your heart to keep navigating in the right direction. Remember, your mind is the servant, not the master. So, instruct it to check on all the other systems. Be receptive to those small, persistent nudges from Spirit, but remember that you have input too. Staying open doesn’t mean you’re a blank page; it means you, as a whole person in the present, decide what is and isn’t a fit for you. In some cases, you actively tailor things to better suit you. And don’t forget to breathe. Smile—your future is in good hands: yours.

5/28      Six of Pentacles:  Reap What YOu sow

This Six is one that promises we get back some of the good we already put out to the world.  With a relatively quiet day Astrologically, perhaps it’s the gift of a pause to rest after the big leaps you made so far.  The Moon and Sun are in harmony to give us a layer of harmony through the day.  There is just a bit more ease available.  Can you spot yours?  When we are anxious or excited it’s easy to race right past the onramp to the destination you’ve longed to reach.  So pace yourself, look around and let things flow today.  You’ve earned it.

5/29      Nine of Wands: Taming Reactions

Today brings another celestial storm of activity, offering moments of ease followed by restriction, grace followed by challenge. Once again, you have the opportunity to employ your ever-expanding guidance system for abundance. What do challenges signify to you? It’s easy to fall into adversarial thinking—believing that the world is against you or that you’ve somehow erred. But consider an alternative interpretation: While you may indeed have made a mistake, you have the power to decide what you want to learn from it.  This Nine represents mastering the unknown.  We can only do that when we tame our reaction to going beyond what we’ve already learned.

Wisdom lies in learning from experience. Experience encompasses the opportunities seized, mistakes made, and lessons gleaned from both success and failure. When we react to what we call failure, we inadvertently set ourselves against obstacles, which limits what we can do about it. But when we push past those limits, we open up to the abundant opportunities for growth that the Universe offers us. Choose deliberate actions over reactions. Slowly move beyond the comfort zone.  Excellent—now repeat.  When you do, you preserve abundance and even add to it.

5/30      King of Pentacles: Slow And Steady

Don’t be surprised if you find yourself navigating emotionally muddy waters today. Whether you’re ankle-deep or swimming, stay open to insights. This earthy King is the benefactor you need; he brings tangible support. Since Pentacles represent the body, look for subtle cues there to guide you to dry land. Others may have plenty to say about your situation, and that’s okay. Listen, but ultimately make up your own mind. Let your body help you discern which input resonates with you and which doesn’t.

Even when someone offers good advice, it may not align with your needs. They might feel confident they know what’s best for you, but that doesn’t mean it’s right for you. Here’s a hint: if you’re the one deciding what’s best for others, you might be avoiding your own decisions. When it’s our own decision, we often experience messy feelings, bodily cues, and a tug-of-war between the heart and the head. It can feel easier to clean up someone else’s mess instead of dealing with our own imbalance. So take your time and pace yourself. Remember, there’s tangible support available to assist you with your heavy lifting. You don’t have to go it alone.

5/31      Prince of Cups: Progress that Pleases

Hooray! We’re feeling like we’re making progress on some of those sticky situations or choices from the past few days. In fact, we can see where we’ve done better than we realized. We understand more about ourselves and this whole evolutionary process than we did before. Our minds may try to bully us into doing what someone else determined was ‘best’ for us, but we realize that we make those decisions. So, don’t worry if you feel the old habits hovering around the edges—they’re not bad, and we don’t need to throw them out. In fact, what we’ve gained from them is part of our forward momentum.

As the Moon moves into Aries tonight, our progress helps fuel the fires of courage. We deserve a pat on the back or a high five, so let’s give ourselves some well-deserved acknowledgment. Those moments of self-recognition are vital parts of life, and they teach others how to treat us too. Late evening brings support for our Moon from both Jupiter and Pluto. This means that fear of change won’t be able to keep us away from our heart’s desires. We now know how to be creative, even when rerouted by challenges and obstacles. Like passing cars on the freeway, we feel a sense of progress that brings us more joy and optimism. And that pleases…

6/1      Eight of swords: Set Yourself Free

The Moon sextiles both the Sun and Venus in Gemini today, shedding light on where fear holds our desires hostage. The good news is that you’ve built up confidence in your ability to handle whatever the world throws your way. Especially because you don’t have to do it perfectly. In fact, you know you aren’t going to get it just right every time. This realization gives you the courage and confidence to break free from those self-imposed mental prisons.

This Eight card reminds us to doubt our doubts. Push back against those thoughts that are chewing through our peace of mind. Eight resembles the infinity sign when turned on its side, serving as a reminder that what we put out there comes back to us in all kinds of ways. This mental eight suggests that as you think, so it goes. All the more reason to relegate those fears and doubts to the back seat so their hands can’t reach the wheel. When fear becomes loud, calm them down. You’ve got plenty of support as you practice doing just that today.

6/2      Six of Swords: Calmer Waters

With Mars, Eris, and the Moon in close proximity this afternoon, we find the courage and innocent eyes to assert ourselves in unexpected ways. And that courage guides us into calmer waters. Normally, Mars in Aries has to work on impulse control. So, it’s no surprise if you find yourself challenged to do your own work here. But when you do, you’ll see how quickly things shift from stormy to calm seas. When you tap into your inner bravery and let inspiration guide its development, you may be surprised at what ease comes with it.

If, however, you find your impulses are to shoot first and aim later, there’s nothing as courageous as admitting a mistake so you can quickly correct it. It’s funny how that simple act can change everything too. If there’s no ability to admit, course-correct, and learn from it, take a good look at the landscape. Something needs to change there. Only you know what that may be. But it’s impossible to safely grow when you’re locked into rigid performance expectations. Make sure you aren’t one of the jailers keeping yourself prisoner there. If you are, reflect on what unfolded yesterday and set yourself free. Smoother sailing awaits on the other side of impossible standards.

6/3      Prince of Pentacles:  Attitude of Gratitude

The celestial soup today offers a reward for consistent efforts. They require us to look carefully at where we control instead of command. Especially notice where the safety of what’s known lures us back to familiar paths. You won’t find easy measurement for your progress outside of yourself. It’s an internal job, so it requires different tools to weigh the results. Venus in Gemini sextiles the North Node to underscore how important it is to appreciate what we have. Too often, we focus on having more or not having what we want. Increase your fulfillment when you make sure you fully appreciate what you’ve already gained.

Gratitude has a startlingly good effect on our brains. So be sure to bring plenty into your day’s equation. By evening, the list of good things you appreciate may fuel some possibly spectacular insights. At the very least, they offer good ‘aha’ moments and breakthroughs thanks to Mercury in Gemini trine to Pluto in Aquarius. The bonus is that what you come up with can benefit more than just yourself. Who knows, your lightning bolts of insight may end up topping somebody else’s gratitude list.

6/4      Nine of Swords:  Needless Worry

Boy, there’s a lot of support to recognize and release needless worry. Of course, for that to happen, you first experience what may feel like an onslaught of mental chatter as Mercury and Jupiter meet up in the sign of the twins. That’s a LOT of expansive thinking. Thank goodness the Moon in Taurus leans on stable Saturn to provide balance. Your body needs your mind to pace itself. Ground yourself, too! Our minds stay busy most days looking for what could go wrong. Today, that could be in overdrive.

One meaning for this lovely nine is needless worry. Most of it will never happen anyway. So why not buff up your anti-anxiety routine? What, you don’t have one of those?? Definitely, this is a great time to add one or expand yours if you do. Because Jupiter is in Gemini for the next year. And Jupiter expands whatever it touches. So hello, busy mind. I’m a big fan of tapping (EFT) with tons of free videos on YouTube. Brain scans show the amygdala goes from fiery red to cool blue with one good round of tapping.  Breathing is also good, and you’re doing it anyway, right?

We get so much strategic help from our mind. But we need to remember it’s only one part of our whole. Body, Heart, and Spirit need more time, and the mind can feel extra grabby. As Venus meets up with the Sun in Gemini, it’s easy to let our imaginations run wild. Slap a saddle on it and let it take you in the directions that delight you. You set the direction and the pace. Remember, your mind is the servant. Let the Heart be the master and leave unnecessary worry behind. If it comes up, simply prepare as best you can and then let go. Love yourself enough to enjoy what is without wasting so much energy worrying about what hasn’t happened yet and probably never will.

6/5      Three of Cups:  Celebrate

This convivial three brings up images of good friends well met. It’s perfect as the Moon moves into Gemini, where the Sun and Venus are already hanging out. Feels like a picnic or pool party kind of vibe. However, that Lunar trine to Pluto can also signal more depth than the casual setting suggests. If it feels good to be alive, let the feeling settle bone-deep. For this moment, in this place, savor taking a breath. Feel how magical it is that a trillion-plus cells organize themselves daily to make you possible. Those people you hang out with are the same miracle in action. Delight in yourself, delight in them, enjoy whatever space you are in together.

What can you celebrate today? With a party in Gemini, the possibilities are like a million points of light on water. Your attention organizes these moments into memories you can pull out when you need sunshine in the future. We can expect an almost electric buzz of mental activity to be present for a while. Sometimes it feels exciting, sometimes it just overwhelms. One good tool for your self-care kit is joy. It’s real, you have it, and you want quality attention for it. Which is why acknowledging those good moments exist is important. Your whole nervous system responds well when you do. Give yourself that, please.
