Capricorn Full Moon – Wounded Responsibility

wheelchair-2322783_1920

This Cancer New Moon invites us to address where our wounds create more of the same pain when we don’t stop and address them.  We’ve been here for a while as the Wounded Healer, Chiron is in Aries. One of the themes for this Moon cycle involves Chiron in a challenge aspect to the Sun and Full Moon.  It’s a picture of Mom (Moon), Dad (Sun) and the wounded child within you (Chiron).  Everyone has their version of this.  So where are you in the Healing Process? There’s a guide you might find handy.

The first stage of Chiron is when the wound happens, whatever age you may have been.  The second stage is where we see versions of that story in the world around us and react to it.  We either try to get them to hear and care about our pain (Cancer) or we try to fix the issue, get it right, so it won’t hurt us anymore (Capricorn).  Except you can’t get enough of something that almost works.  Thank you Gabor Mate for that little gem of wisdom.  Because you will always find a version of the original wound out there in the world.  Because it is part of your life view.  So until you reset, reframe and adjust that view yourself to where you are in the present, you have an endless cycle of wounding/defense unfolding.

Then there’s the final stage of the Chiron process.  You heal.  Where are you in the three stages?  It may be in stage three in work but stuck on stage one in your relationships.  This month we have a mixture of fast moving energy that then hits what my colleague Rick Levine called the doldrums.  Where the winds of change go still and you bob about aimlessly.  So when you hit those still patches and can’t keep sailing along, it’s a great chance to map out where you are in your healing process.

This Full Moon is opposite Mercury.  So we can take a more compassionate view of our wounds so a much more complete picture emerges.  Juno is there with the Sun and Mercury so keep an eye out for what you commit to and why.  If there is triangulation see what you can do to clean it up.  When we go to one person trying to get them to take our side, we are feeling powerless and want to shore up resources.  If it’s being done to you, the same applies.  We can only have the hard conversations when we know we are worth speaking up for.  We don’t have to be brilliant at it, you just want to learn and practice.  That’s how we take responsibility instead of using our wounds as justification for hurting another.

Saturn in Pisces is the ruler of this Moon.  Which gives us an added boost of empathy for another’s pain.  Saturn helps because it gives us the strength to witness another’s pain and not drown in affective empathy.  It also gives us the ability to see where our pain winds up spilling on to others.  Hint, this makes it hard to justify being stuck in stage 2, where we are interacting with one another trying to control or change their behavior when it lights up our sore spots.  The goal is to move to a centered ask for what we want and need with detachment from the outcome.  There’s a yes out there to what you want, when you stay open to how it arrives.

Whether we start the ask with and angry complaint or feeling victimized, Discover the center of your story and walk out as an adult who connects with the world more successfully and joyfully.  Try being curious about answers to your wants and needs beyond the limited scope your wound dictated until now.  In my experience those results can go BEYOND what you wished for.  Now that’s a nice shift this Moon cycle from uncomfortable to feeling able to create a world that works better for you.  The Cards and Stars will help.

Thank you,

Lisa Greenfield

7/3 capricorn full moon prince of swords

Part of this Moon cycle is to help us deconstruct automatic defensive responses. We’ve become so used it you may not even realize how deeply embedded it is. For example, I was invited to do a high profile event. They booked a 90 minute session to honor their budget. Then a couple days later they sent over a request to start an hour earlier than what I thought they wanted saying it was for prep time. A story popped up, my brain was spinning worst case scenarios and when I felt the spin start, I just put my energy into this question. What do I want to create here? There were unanswered questions that could easily clear things up, so why all the fear that I was either going to obligated to something unwelcome or risk alienating them?

I landed on what I wanted. I told them I want to be an enthusiastic co-creator but needed clarification in order to do that. Did they need more prep time than my normal 15 minutes or did they want to honor their budget. It seems simple, right. We cleared it up and my enthusiasm carried me into such yummy space we both felt seen and appreciated. So why did I start so triggered? Doesn’t matter. That’s the short answer. The goal is to walk yourself through your triggers in a way that respects you and the other party. This Prince of Swords carries the separation energy. Which means we can let our projections separate us from one another. Or we can part ways with unnecessary defensiveness.

You will be triggered. The energy the next couple weeks may have you stalled in the same spot for a reason. It may take a few tries to make the new approach muscle memory. Your nervous system may need a chance to rest between steps into unfamiliar territory. The inner speed is faster than the outer speed. This helps stir up the things quickly so you can slowly but surely put in place some structure (Capricorn) in a way that nurtures you (Cancer) better than before. Mercury and the Sun take it day by day to shed light on a kinder approach that benefits you and everyone you come in contact with as you grow out of that wounded state. Responsibly healing our own wounds slowly but surely. The light dawns…

7/4 magician

The Moon meets up with the heavy-weight Pluto mid-morning, fueled by night time dreams that Moon and Eris serve up. This potent combination is guaranteed to bring those unacknowledged sore points into view. When you know that, you can start the day curious instead of triggered. The Magician works with the elements at hand to combine them in unexpected ways. This alchemizes the mix. It’s magic that turns lead into gold. So discover your inner magician today when you go inward before you go outward with whatever you feel. Keep this phrase handy, ‘what do I feel and what does that feeling need’. Be willing to get underneath the layers of what you think you want at first.

That may take a little patient digging. But you are worth your time and so is the process. Part of the magic can be what you find out about YOU as you go deeper. It can be shocking to see how many places you were defending the young you, when the situation offered more opportunity than threat had you felt safe enough to see it that way. So find your way to taking good care of yourself so you don’t cut off the gold waiting for you. By all means, put your emotional safety gear on, it will help you take those steps. You may have more tools than you realized. So perhaps an inventory is useful today. When you know you are well resourced and can list those resources, suddenly it’s much more fun to take that risk. Then let magic happen.

7/5 eight of wands

You can do this, and do it well today. In fact the Moon square Jupiter can make us a little cocky and brave. We need it because Mercury squares Chiron exactly, giving us eyes to see where the wound limited what you create. When we have that, we can succeed at something that feels better. This Eight is the standing ovation when you are mindful of the energy you put out there. It’s also a report card for where you may need to learn a bit more about co creating. Give your wise self a task and insist it help you discover where your defenses may have been either misplaced or over done. Why not when you have a dose of courage and confidence to help make it more fun?

7/6 four of cups

Okay, this Four flags our defensiveness and puts it right in our line of site today. It’s easy to slide down a path towards wasting energy wishing things were not what they are. When you remember that feeling sorry for yourself is a request for a little comfort, it helps. What does soothing feel like for you right now? It may look differently than it has before. Which is a good thing to know, right? Keep in mind other people may have the powerless blues, too.

So if someone suddenly brings in control energy, try a reset to that vulnerable ask. Your time is better served learning what your feeling and need are in the situation than trying manipulate an outcome or manage someone else’s manipulation. Watch your temper. Anger helps us hold a boundary so that the invaders can’t penetrate safe space. Boundaries also set a front door for those you want coming in to connect. It shows people how to meet you in a way that feels good for you. That’s the plus side of this Four, which puts things on an emotionally firm foundation. And oh, how good that feels, right?

7/7 six of swords

Ah, we sail out of the stormy waters of the last couple days into the calm of today. The Sun and Moon are in easy aspect that brings harmony to things. This means your nervous system can calm down and take stock of what you’ve learned so far in the Moon cycle. Sixes are always about wholeness. Which means your mind can ease up a bit and let your body and intuition help navigate into places and spaces your heart longs for. The only other aspect for today’s quieter sky is a Moon/Uranus sextile. This helps us easily let go of outsized fears about anything from yesterday and tomorrow. We can pause right here in the present and take in a sweet view.

7/8 the empress

There’s a mix of easy and challenging aspects today, right in line with the abundance the Empress represents. With an array of feelings and options, what are you going to do with them? I see it like a candy store. What do you want now and in what order. The hard part about abundance is how wired in we are to fear what we might miss out on having. It helps to notice what your particular beliefs are around second guessing whatever you do choose. Here’s a hint. Whatever you chose do do, say, believe was the best option in the moment. If the results give you good information, well then good to know. They may not be what you wanted, but that doesn’t mean you were wrong. See where you can incorporate more of that approach than beating yourself up for the path not taken.

7/9 hanged man

There is beauty and power in the pause today. The Hanged Man signals a shift in perspective that takes time to fully reveal itself. You may find you can shift your mood as you let more information in and give it time to rearrange and put together a more artful expression of events. In fact with Mercury and Neptune in soft aspect, you can definitely locate a kinder, better way to see whatever comes up today. Which helps since the Moon meets up with Chiron, to highlight the stages of your wounding story. How useful it is to see ourselves with clearer eyes while we also inventory our resources for support. That is both kind and strong. See how much good comes with that strategic pause instead of reaction or even over reaction?

7/10 three of cups

Mars moves into Virgo for the next 48 days and this is good news, according to this happy Three. It helps us get specific and healthier as the aspects stir up change within us. The shadow side of today’s aspects (and the Mars transit) are the necessity of giving more than lip service to things. Our mouths may run ahead of us, but it is wise to hip check the impulse to speak what hasn’t yet fully formed.

However if you do that, there is a lot of good insight in the effort. It probably won’t be comfortable but it will be informative and evolutionary with Mercury opposing Pluto. Whoops, power dynamics are everywhere. We can’t escape being human. So what do you want to do with that sticky energy? Start by the balance of power within you. What is your own personal goldilocks ‘just right’ mixture. Threes are Mercury’s symbol. This one is cups, which means you’ll want to include heart and creativity. And why not make sure the fun is in there, too. Who doesn’t want to have a lighter touch when it comes to sorting out power?

7/11 eight of cups

Mercury entered Leo late last night and scorches through this fire sign in only eight days. But not before it squares both Jupiter and Uranus. The combination of this Eight with the aspects we face means the tide is going out in key areas. Mercury square Jupiter wants to correct promising more than you can deliver and over confidence. Optimism is good, it just needs to be rooted in reality. Since Mercury in Leo puts our view of self front and center, the desired outcome is a healthy confidence in ourselves while still possessing a realistic assessment of what we can do now, thanks to Mars in Virgo.

With Uranus squaring Mercury in Leo, you can get those liberating flashes that illuminate the truth about you. Where you overestimate yourself and underestimate yourself rise to the surface. Adjustment is required on the mismatched self assessment, so you understand who and what you are as well as what you can do. The awareness is fairly quick as the current gets pulled back at a rapid rate. The caution is to let the understanding sink in before you rush to act. Mars in Virgo moves a lot slower than Mercury in Leo. So what we do is 20 steps behind what we see. Pace yourself and let it sink in, as the tide goes out on flawed understanding of you.

7/12 six of cups

The Cancer Sun squares Chiron today to highlight more of what needs to go out with the tide. Check on what stage of theChiron wound you’d say you were. Because The Moon meets up with Uranus to set us free of those pesky doubts that we are not enough. That’s usually the most vicious whispers, you aren’t lovable, you aren’t enough, you haven’t earned good things yet. Fear lies. It wants to stop us from those yet undiscovered threats on the road ahead. Try bookending those fears with the best case scenario. One is just as likely as the other.

So if your fear voice serves up a message that you aren’t lovable, insist it finds evidence of where you are loved. Because you are. And there is proof. You have to be open, willing and a little patient as you walk out of the wound and into a more whole you. That person holds all the wounded spots but can see how very much more to you there is than just those pain points. Six of Cups is the card of childhood memories. The important thing to remember is they are memories not present day. Let them show you the starting gate. Your race is far from over and maybe all you need is a strategic water break to refuel.

7/13      four of swords
This Moon cycle brought two fours in the suit of swords and cups as well as two sixes in the same suits.  The combination makes for solid relationships and commitment.  What we are doing, walking through the wound and taking responsibility for our progress makes so much possible.  There is room for mistakes without over reaction.  We can revisit, take a do over and improve things as we go, together.  Today’s aspects will likely offer up a chance to rethink where you’ve been and see it with fresh eyes.  Fours are always about firm foundations.  This one means that if you won’t stop and ground ourselves our mind will wear us out.  It means our thoughts can literally make us sick.  Talk about incentive to change things up, right?

Even if you don’t cross someone or something that triggers you today, it’s still a good day to dedicate a little time to that rear view mirror.  Look back with an intention to see where fear separates you from what you love.  Often it tries to save us from one pain only to inflict another one.  The pain of distance instead of connection.  Even when we can’t safely connect with another, where can we be honest and kind in our thoughts about our part.  When you can be more generous with yourself, it’s possible to that way with another.  So let the rear view mirror have a rosier tint to it, please.  See misjudgments as a starting point not a condemnation.  You need a mental rest today.  Kindness is a balm for wounded and weary thoughts.

7/14 nine of cups

There is an aspect in Astrology called a Yod that is active today. I won’t drone on here trying to explain it. It’s called the ‘Finger of God’ because it points a way out of our misery through our efforts. We need to align with a greater purpose than just self satisfaction. With Mercury in Leo, Ceres (the Great Mother) in Libra and Saturn, the Wisdom Keeper in Pisces it packs a punch. We have to take care of ourselves better (Ceres) with a view that honors our own uniques self (Mercury), while keeping in mind that what we do unto others we also do to ourselves (Saturn). Nines are the master number and cups are emotions/creativity. So divine direction points us towards a path that no longer excuses our bad behavior because we were once wounded.

We are responsible for healing what hurts, each on their own path to doing it. In fact, I suggest that the way you heal the wound so you don’t offend from that position of misperceived powerlessness is the oyster creating pearls from the gritty sand that hurts. Something beautiful is there inside of you when you move through the stages of healing and out of fragmented, frightened stories. Treat those wounds carefully but let them heal. Find what helps you do just that. When you take responsibility there is great freedom and beauty there, that can only come through you. This Nine is the promise of a wish come true. Make a heart wish and watch it unfold over the months ahead. It may be what helps bring the best of you forward.

7/15 king of swords

There is a balance between head and heart, fact and fiction to be found today. Be mindful that in your search for the truth you don’t get all facts with none of their flavor. Or conversely, if you tend to stay in imagination what’s asked is that you take a concrete step towards what you dream of. Take that risk. We start the day in our mind but end the day with heart wanting a seat at the table. It’s the combination of the two that are important. Our emotions carry 5,000 times the magnetic charge of our thoughts. So notice how you feel about any story you tell.

It may be necessary to cap the big spikes a bit to get on solid ground. But you don’t want to lose the feelings in the process. When you know you can find a happier combination than all head or all heart, you’ve got power and command. Now doesn’t that sound like fertile territory to play in today? Map some of your mental checks and emotional waves. This King is the learned counsel you can trust. What better asset to take through life, your own inner wise self.

7/16 two of cups

Boundaries are more than a way to keep out what you don’t want. They are putting the front and back doors on your world and letting people know that’s the way to get in safely for both of you. No jimmying the windows or crashing through walls. There’s no safe connection when that happens. Just vandalism at the connections beginning. I’ve added a cellar door recently, in case people get in and have decided to get out through less direct methods. It is exit only and not the way in, which is also good to know. Who said mapping you couldn’t be fun?

This Two is an invitation and reminder to be gentle. A wise woman once told me that you want to be as generous with other people’s faults as you’d like them to be with yours. It helps to remember to be gentler on yourself without excusing bad behavior. Still, be kind when you call yourself out on those wounded places used to justify hurting someone else. Caught being human is a valid state of being. And, your worst behavior is no place stand in, no matter how much was done to you that contributed to the destination. Kind and strong is an excellent combination. Find your version of it and let it help you make your own incandescent contribution to the world you occupy. We each need to be our best self. I’ll go first, your invited to come along on your own adventure.
