Aquarius Full Moon – Entitlement and social contracts

heart-2943576_1920

Welcome to a reset on social contracts. This Full Moon in Aquarius stacks both tension and support for making better, stronger, more balanced agreements on all kinds of relationships. Leo highlights our heart driven individuality. It’s where we shine and are meant to have our place in the spotlight. Aquarius is the eclectic, freedom-driven space that insists we all deserve our place in the sun. The Sun in Leo and the Moon in Aquarius square off with Jupiter, the great expander. Squares mean change is required. In this case, entitlement is the theme. It’s time to address more equitable partnerships going forward. How, you might ask? I’m so glad you are curious…

Our desires make us unique. How you express them is mostly set in childhood. Where do those setting show up in how you relate today? Do you get enough time in the spotlight? Hooray if the answer is yes. Then the adjustment is this. Do your partners get the time they actually want to have, or just the time you want to give them. When is the last time you checked in with those you connect with to make sure they feel seen, heard and appreciate in a way that’s meaningful to them? Because we’ve all been changing. So the way in which someone feels appreciated may have changed too. With Mars trine to Jupiter it’s easier now to make meaningful adjustments. Grab this actions upgrade while it’s easy, right!

What about if the answer was NO, you don’t feel like your wants and needs got enough spotlight time. There is an inherent right to your feelings, you are entitled to have them. What you aren’t is entitled to impose them on others without consequence. But this is where creative expression can let the genie out of the bottle. Locate those unexpressed wishes, feelings, longings and give them your attention. Why not make it quality attention. You’ve grown. So have those feelings. Sort through what is a want and what is a need. Because winning or success may feel like a need but it’s not. It’s a result that gives you a feeling. So what does that feeling mean to you? This kind of inventory that allows you to bring a fresh perspective to social contracts.

Then the next step is to help evolve the contract so each person gets some of that ‘special’ feeling. Now it can be as simple as allowing someone to pick the activity when they normally go along. Or you can make sure you really listen and ask good questions when someone shares what’s going on with them, instead of rushing to comment or speak your piece. When you actively investigate a healthier balance to how you connect this Moon cycle, the rewards are well worth it. However, it may also bring some revelations that are unpleasant. Some partners may resist a power rebalance.

Often this is when the wound is running the show. As adults we often unconsciously try to right the wrongs of childhood imbalances. Since Eris, the asteroid of righting injustice, is in a key place those wounds will show up. This is where someone can feel they deserve something out of proportion to the current circumstances. Hint, look at the multimillionaires and billionaires gaming the system to keep as much of their money as possible even when they can’t possibly spend it all in a lifetime. We each have our own version of this.

So this Moon cycle will pop up those disproportionate responses that reveal unequal playing grounds. We need better balance of how we play well with others. Where do you need to shine more and where can you let other’s do the same and actually celebrate it? It’s a learning curve, so be patient and lovingly honest with yourself. The Cards and Stars will help.

Thank you,

Lisa Greenfield

8/1      aquarius full moon      chariot

Ah, this is the card of success.  Not just any old achievement, it brings big wins.  With Jupiter trine Mars, what you do pays off. Mercury is opposite Saturn, too.  So this brings a twist.  What do you consider a win?  Because we look for results as a sign that we are doing something the benefits us.  We want measurable impact or progress.  This is why we do what we do.  It gives us something.  The trouble comes when the need to succeed has us impose our will to get our way.  Or, conversely, it has us give up what we want to keep others happy.

Now the extreme of this is when people rig the system so you know you’ll win.  In a capitalistic world, the end often justifies the means.  But right now, in this change cycle, the means of achieving goals is what sets the foundation.  And, it sets your world view.  If you live in a world where your success depends on twisting things in your favor, then you are never safe from someone else doing the same.  The same goes where you consistently dial down what you want and need in order to maintain the status quo.  Your world is now grounded in how much you sacrifice to achieve your results.

You’ve got your own version of that in your contracts.  It’s been the social norm.  What happens if you ferret out your version of those options?  What is possible when replace either of those pathways with another option?  Yes it requires effort and it’s going to a bumpy path.  True partnership requires patience to reach a harmony that uplifts all who experience it.  You might over correct before you reach a more honest reflection of what you feel and how to express it.  Which is why the Chariot also highlights the need for patience and promises big wins when you make the effort.

With Jupiter square both the Sun and the Moon, it highlights the shadow side of entitlement for each.   With Leo Sun, you can feel how much it matters to share what you alone bring to the world.  Start digging in where you feel you shine in partnership and where you fear you don’t.  Where you don’t is where that sense of obligation or entitlement can operate underneath it all.  The Moon says face those fears that if you allow freedom you won’t stay connected the way you want.  Clean the emotional cupboards.  You’ll feel much better and so will those you love.

8/2      three of cups

This three usually brings good news.  However, with the Moon opposing Venus, this can also be where our relationships suffer from carelessness or triangulation.  It highlights where there is a lack of accountability for what we want and how we get it.  Often there is an immaturity to our justification for doing what we want, the way we want to do it.  The smarter you are the better the reasons sound.  But that doesn’t mean you can escape consequences.  It often feels like disrespect.  And disrespect is like a nail in the ship of any relationship.  Even when you apologize to remove the nail, the hole it leaves can still eventually sink the boat.

Here’s the upside.  The way you treat others is mostly a little better than you treat yourself.  So if you are being actively or passively disrespectful of others feelings, what does that say about how you learned to treat your own?  Right??  This is a great place to begin the repair of patterns set in childhood.  How can you honor what you feel and still find a better way to express it? Three is the number of communication and with cups, it helps you be sweet to you or others.  Sometimes all you need is to ask for a ‘do over’.  Why not be sure your relationships have such a space, so when anyone screws up it’s safer to own it.  Because you can ask for a fresh start and do better next time.

8/3      Emperor

The Moon meets up with Saturn and also opposes Mercury to give us an adult frame of mind today.  The Emperor is known as a sign for setting a confused life in order successfully.  We’ve already seen big success is possible with the Chariot, and we hear the echo today.  Which helps because the young part of us may want to act out.  Or you may be able to see the part of you that acts against your best interests long term with short term coping skills.  Those small victories still don’t add up to long term gains.   When we don’t know we are entitled to those feelings, we do work arounds that aren’t pretty.

The feminine shadow is to try to draw them closer to us, even if it means them abandoning their wants.  The masculine shadow is to impose our wants on the situation.  The middle ground is a vulnerable ask and the potential to share why the ask matters.  Then you have to practice letting go.  How other people handle that ask may be a learning curve for them, too.  Your goal is not see their failure to do what you would like as a threat.  Remember, patience matters.  You are building a social contract where all sides can contribute their wishes and wants to make a resource rich environment.  Then the raw material makes all kinds of things possible, because what we love is magnetic!  You’ve got command.  This is your world, your contracts.  Now see what you can begin.

8/4      two of swords

One of the meanings for two of swords is an equal distribution of power from both sides.  It can also mean there’s a balancing act in your mind between optimism and pessimism.  With a lot of Neptune in the mix, it may take much of the day to find your way through the fuzzy thinking.  There is what we want and then there is what we have now.  How can we accept where we begin instead of wishing for something else?  That question requires your unique answer.  Because any solution does need to fit you.  So today practice seeing where you wish things were different and yet accept where you begin as your starting point.  Craft together a process that fits you like a custom tailored suit.  You social contracts can please both sides with a little investment…

8/5      six of cups

Today is a good day to dismantle those rationalizations that keep you using childhood coping skills.  They don’t adequately reflect all the resources and education you’ve gathered in life.  But it is so tempting to just give ourselves what we want, the way we want it, when we want it, even when it costs us dearly in the long run.  It’s far more effective to comfort that part of you that wants unconditional approval while still asking better of yourself.  You don’t need to make yourself wrong for doing it.  This Six can bring an innocence to your efforts.  Be kind, be clear, be supportive and help yourself make a wiser choice for you.  Look at it with fresh eyes and rather than you giving something up, get busy and see where you gain far more than you sacrifice with this trade.

8/6     strength

We can use a dose of inner strength when the Moon meets up with Chiron at daybreak.  The choice is ours to make.  Will we choose to suffer over the past or rewrite the script in the present?  You know what helps us heal?  Doing what we love.  The invitation in this Moon cycle is to do it sustainably.  That means there is a healthy balance of power at the core of your personal expression.  Part of the health is achieved when you can genuinely enjoy someone else getting something you yourself want.  Because your version of that is still ahead for you!  Scarcity mentality is survival thinking and you can do more than just get by…

We get trapped when we fixate on only one outcome or source of happiness.  What we long for is a perfect place to feel all those wonderful feelings.  Yet we box ourselves in when we believe that there is not enough to go around.  This is a survival fear from infancy where if we weren’t seen enough, we would be neglected and die.  It’s not rational, it’s instinctual, which makes it pervasive.  But you have Strength on your side.   With Eris in the mix today, along with Chiron, we need to weed out that scarcity survival story.  It’s one that needs frequent weeding.  Because if we fixate on others as competition for scarce resources, we lose a whole range of collaborative options.  Why do that to yourself, right?

8/7      justice

Ah, we have easy aspects to move through today, helping balance some of the challenges this week has brought.  Justice is the card ruled by Venus and harmony.  Which is in reach today when we feed ourselves better stories, interpretations of anything that happens.  It’s easier today to see what’s special about you and know that’s part of your foundation.  It’s easier to nourish ourselves with kinder stories about who we are and what’s possible.  There is a genuine grace to how we view both ourselves and others with just a little attention.  Spend a few minutes in front of the mirror today, why don’t you.  Give yourself compliments that you’ve longed to hear and haven’t yet.  When you see it and say it, your brain changes.  It also helps magnetize in more of that energy.  Plus it feels good.  You deserve to feel good about YOU.

8/8      king of cups

Today’s aspects offer a lot of education, and it’s not the simple kind.  This King is the minor version of the Magician.  So you can turn lead into gold with a little refocus.  Ask yourself, ‘what do I feel and what does that feeling need’?  In any circumstance, let that be your solid ground.  This is important even when it’s good news that shakes things up.  How safe do you feel receiving?  Can you let yourself take it in or do you rush to manage what’s coming your way?  Maybe you even have a habit of deflecting the good.  Hmmm.

Collaboration can feel wonderful, exciting and adrenaline filled only to have our internal system immediately try to contain expansion into unknown territory.  Our instinctive brain prefers familiar space because it know how to survive there.  So, if you want to expand with the good things, you need to map a way to let them be and stay grounded and safe.  The more you make it safe to receive, the more good things you can take in and enjoy.  So work a little magic when you pay attention to all the different parts of you today.  All the parts means the less appealing reactions, too.  You don’t have to let them dictate the outcome.  Not when all that life shows up on your doorstep.  Instead practice trusting yourself with what the world serves up for you.

8/9      lovers

Wow, we have choices to make today.  Whether they are small or large, they are important.  Time to tune in to those authentic desires and find a way to bring them with you to whatever you do.  Oddly enough, sitting with those desires now, really investigating may surprise you.  Because you just don’t feel the same way about what you thought you wanted.  It’s okay.  It may be a little shocking.  Like a successful actor who walks away to become a painter, it’s just the next stage in your evolution.

For some the adjustment may be less visible.  But it matters.  There is no one else’s permission required and no approval that matters more than your own.  Of course, how you make the change matters, very much.  When you make changes, it destabilizes existing social contracts.  Be aware that renegotiations are required.  Conversations help.  But these are also a test of where you can hold your own without too much or too little personal power involved.  You have to explore your Goldilocks spot of just right for you.  Respect and consideration for others is magical and doesn’t mean you can’t be your self.  In fact practice respect and consideration for you first.  Then choose carefully.  You are worth your time.

8/10     five of pentacles

Really pay attention to the scarcity mentality aspect of what you think and do today, please.  Five is the number of creativity and connected with Leo.  This Venus retrograde in Leo squares Uranus, which helps free us from those fears that you can’t have what you want.  The Gemini Moon squares off first to Mercury in Virgo, then Mars.  It can be that we pick apart options that don’t match what we imagined when they arrive.  Or it can be that we are mercilessly perfectionist about ourselves and how we achieve goals.  Another option is that we screen out anything we don’t want to look at.

You may have all three of these coping skills or more.  The encouragement is to notice where your instinctual brain wants to stay in familiar stories.  Even when those stories aren’t satisfying!  Living the life you want requires you understand where you self limit.  Then reset those guidelines, right?  But first you have to see them.  Acknowledge they existed to keep you safe, even when they make you miserable doing so.  Now it’s time for better safety kits.  Let today give you options to uncover what’s in yours and where they need swapping out.

8/11      five of swords

Two fives in a row speak to self doubt.  Mars is in a tense dialogue with our wound to start the day.  The Moon in Gemini squares Neptune, so you may be tempted to see all the ways you are separate from what you desire.  Your busy brain can find all kinds of rationalizations, but are the stories helpful or not?   It’s a good day to be kind to you.  Sometimes you can’t think your way through something.  Instead it helps to do a completely unrelated activity.  Tap into muscle memory.  Set the intention that when you go for a walk you leave needless worries behind with each footstep.  Plant something and know you can help things grow with a little patient attention.  Keep it simple today.  Don’t overthink it.  Let your body and heart help you map your way.

8/12      king of pentacles

There are just a couple easy aspects today as this King reminds us this is the long haul, not a sprint.  So give yourself some pats on the back for how much is already in the works.  Know that you are manifesting the world you wish to live in, one choice and action at a time.  Don’t worry about mistakes or slip ups.  Just give yourself a do over.  Have a little fun today.  What do you love doing?  Give yourself some version of that and enjoy.  This patient manifesting King knows that strength builds on strength.  Honor yours today and all the heavy lifting it’s done for you.

8/13      Empress

This Empress is the match set to the earlier Emperor.  A not so subtle reminder that you are now the mother and father of your world.  The Sun and retrograde Venus meet up to give us a better sense of what our whole self longs for these days.  That expansion comes with illuminated paint for the road lanes, thanks to Moon and Chiron is tough aspect.  We can’t think our way out of a wounded state, we must act differently.

You get some help with a sextile to Jupiter that helps our sensitive Moon direct our actions.  Pay attention to what the body feels right doing.  Remember, not just what feels good, rather what feels RIGHT.  Feeling good is a short term solution, feeling right is the good that lasts.  That helps a lot when the sensitive Cancer Moon squares Eris.  Those old sore spots may need a kiss or two by nightfall.  But a little kindness and compassion goes a long way to moving the needle into better territory.  Then it’s actually possible to feel how delicious having what you want can be.

Imagine the feeling, not just thought.  Feelings have a magnetic pull to them our thoughts don’t carry.  Where would you feel it first in your body?  Picture the last time you were really delighted or surprised.  Then imagine feeling that way again and let your visualization help expand what’s possible without a lot of effort.  You can simply be in the right place at the right time with the right people.  Now that’s abundance and more of it’s yours when you learn how to hold it in your body.  You just need to practice the feeling so your nervous system is prepared!

8/14      nine of swords

We get progress today only to be aware of what’s still left to attend to on this evolutionary road.  This nine reminds us that most of what we fear will happen never comes about.  And your fears may be loud and proud today.  That’s okay.  It just gives you a chance to practice redirecting your mind.  The mind loves to have a job to do.  When we don’t direct it, you’ll find it busy overestimating threats and underestimating you.  It’s the servant, not the master so give it guidelines.  When it imagines the worst, insist it also adds the best possible outcome.  One is just as possible as the other.  Those two ends of the spectrum give you a big range to navigate whatever comes along.

You may want to do it out loud so those around you can witness and possibly do the same for their fear brain.  Because it’s less fun to be doing well all alone while others struggle.  Our ego may feel good in the moment when we compare, but everyone doing better makes the world a safer, more enjoyable space.  So nines are the number of mastery.  Today you get to practice a little mental mastery with your busy brain.  The reward is you discover you’ve worried needlessly…

8/15       Queen of wands

This Queen holds the promise that you can have both work and home life dialed in for you.  This social contract renegotiation is definitely one you can finesse with flying colors.  This is because when we feel our way instead of just thinking and planning, we draw on the magnetic ability of our emotions.  I always think of this Queen as the flame that draws, not only moths, but all who seek light and warmth.   When you honor and acknowledge your feelings, especially those that were sacrificed on the alter of belonging, you dial up your attractor factor.  It also helps dial down where your coping skills were imbalanced.

When you include more of the original you, those power imbalances don’t have to creep in unconsciously.  It also means you don’t have to make things happen, instead you learn how to inspire and expand things into being.  It’s a more feminine process.  We need both!  We’ve been so conditioned to stack up milestones and achievements that can be easily measured or counted.  Now is the time to learn how value the internal achievements.  How you feel is your road map.  Even hard truths can feel liberating when you face them and deal with them as the powerful creator you are, not the limited child you were.  Feel good inside and out as you construct a world not limited by circumstances.  You define the situation, it doesn’t define you…
